Here's a note from MasPaz on his inspiration for creating this Mas Unidos design:
It is a great privilege to come together once again with the Sierra Club to make art for the conservation of mother earth. Each day I feel more in line with my calling to create in honor of her. The animals in the Mas Unidos illustration have found their way into my heart either through the news or from personal experiences. Let’s see if you can find them all as I recount my stories.
Over the summer mountain lion cubs were rescued during the wildfires in California. Koalas also faced the same troubles in Australia. The sweet octopus in My Octopus Teacher, became the center of the design. My spirit animal is the turtle and a symbol for Mother Earth, also known as Turtle Island. Eight years ago I traveled down the great Ukayali River in a barge from Peru to Brazil. Every day pink river dolphins would come to visit. What better symbol of peace but the dove, which flies high in the sky to greet the rising sun.
I hope this illustration brings your heart closer to the importance and beauty of mother earth. Thank you for supporting me and Sierra Club on our quest to protect this amazing home that we share.
