We have been putting the Prime Minister's 10-point plan for net zero to the test this week. Spoiler alert: it promises much, delivers little and won't get us to net zero fast enough. Here's more about our 5 tests for the government's plan and how we can work together to develop interdependent plans that actually provide systems change for generations to come 🔽

Any plan for the future must create systems change for ALL generations. That is why our live conversation this week about policies that protect not only current but also future generations was so necessary. To make better possible, both now and for the future, we have to start thinking differently, acting collectively, and creating legislation that delivers Green policies. That’s how we’ll make systems change happen to create the fairer society we need and want.

That's exactly what happened in Wales. It started as a radical idea, the first of its kind: The Future Generations Act, weaving together regeneration and social justice for generations to come. Because everything is a Green issue. Now? They have the world's first commissioner of the unborn, responsible for delivering social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being for current and future generations. It's time England followed suit.

⚫The Green Party criticised the government’s procurement process for covid (mainly PPE) contracts after a report from the National Audit Office revealed open competition was absent in a large number of cases. Jonathan Bartley called for an investigation into the award of contracts earlier in the year. 

⚫In line with Green Party policy, Lewes District Council, a cooperative alliance administration co-run by the Green Party, has passed a resolution calling on the government to launch a pilot of Universal Basic Income (UBI) in the district

⚫Caroline Lucas topped this year's BBC's The Woman's Hour Power List 2020, celebrating women who's making a significant positive contribution to the environment and the sustainability of our planet.
