Hello,

This week I introduced a bill to safeguard the Pecos watershed in northern New Mexico from new mining. This bill is a necessary step to protect the river and the many benefits it gives us, like farming, fishing, and river recreation. And, no surprise, Trump's administration opposes it.

If we all speak up loud and clear, we can turn this bill into law. Sign the petition to become a citizen co-sponsor and save the Pecos watershed:

Thousands of New Mexicans rely on the Pecos, for their livelihoods and for outdoor recreation. I have brought my family to the river more times than I can remember to fish and revel in the precious natural wonders of our state.

In the 1990s a toxic waste spill from a closed mine killed fish for 11 miles. My bill will prevent future spills and ensure that we can continue to enjoy and benefit from the Pecos River for generations to come.

But folks, I can't get this done without you. There is strength in numbers. Will you become a citizen co-sponsor of my bill to prevent future mining in the Pecos watershed?

One of my top priorities is protecting the places and ecosystems that make New Mexico special. Thank you for standing with me in the fight to preserve our public lands.
