Americans turned out in record numbers on November 3 to choose a new President. The people spoke, and President Trump lost.
But despite Trump’s own Department of Homeland Security calling this “the most secure in American history,” he and his allies are refusing to accept the results and begin a peaceful transition of power.
Trump filed dozens of bogus lawsuits in courts across the country. Senior Republican lawmakers pressured Secretaries of State to exclude legal ballots in states they lost. And President Trump continues to amplify baseless claims of voter fraud on Twitter.
Let me be clear: No matter what they throw at us, the voice of the American people will not be silenced.
When Attorney General Barr made an abrupt change to a long-standing policy that had kept the Department of Justice from interfering with election results, I led a coalition of 23 Attorneys General to fight back.
We are on this, but I’m counting on you to continue raising your voice. We cannot let any attack on our democracy go unanswered, no matter how frivolous.
