Donald Trump is screaming into the wind about election fraud while the rest of the country has already begun welcoming the new Biden-Harris administration.

But top Republicans are listening to him. After Attorney General Barr authorized US attorneys to investigate “substantial” allegations of election fraud, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnel said in a speech on the Senate floor that Trump was “100 percent within his rights to look into allegations of irregularities and weigh his legal options” and that “the courts are here to work through concerns.”

We can put an end to this egregious abuse of power once and for all -- by ushering in massive voter turnout for Georgia’s Senate runoffs on January 5. And right now, we are in an incredibly good place to do so, as activists like Stacey Abrams and other Black women leaders have registered hundreds of thousands of additional voters for this cycle.

Mitch McConnell knows this too, and he will do EVERYTHING he can to maintain his power over the Senate and continue his blockade on the hundreds of progressive policies our country so desperately needs. Millions of Americans are suffering while the GOP refuses to accept reality -- and they’re only going to ramp up their dark money efforts to bring their supporters out of the woodwork. Rest assured they will engage in dirty voter suppression efforts, follow Trump’s strongman playbook, and cry “election fraud!” as we come closer to January 5.

We are in a great position to end Mitch McConnell’s reign -- and we can’t afford to squander it. As USA Today reports: Georgia’s “trending demographics [are] reason for optimism. The growth of Atlanta has attracted an increasingly educated workforce from other parts of the country, especially potential younger Asian, Black and Latino voters.”
