When the Affordable Care Act was passed over ten years ago, I made sure it prohibited health insurance companies from charging women more for coverage simply for being women.
The Trump Administration, however, is doing everything in its power to dismantle the ACA, meaning women -- particularly women of color -- are once again at risk of paying higher premiums than their male counterparts.
When women are still not guaranteed equal pay under the law, charging them more for health insurance is an absurd and cruel punishment -- but, then again, the GOP has a long history of restricting women's access to health care.
We must protect the ACA from the Trump Administration at all costs.
We must fight for our mothers, daughters, and sisters' access to affordable health care.
And, we must stand up for gender equity in all forms -- including in health care premiums.
Millions of women across the country are depending on Congress to uphold the ACA. We cannot let them down now.
