John,
Breaking: the Trump administration is attempting to ram through a full repeal of Internet free speech laws as part of the must-pass NDAA bill.1 Chip in to help us fight this.

The New York Times is reporting that White House chief of staff Mark Meadows is quietly pressuring lawmakers to include an outright repeal of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act in the must-pass National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) spending bill.
This is an all out assault on Internet freedom. Section 230 is the law that allows websites to host user-generated content like photos, videos, opinions, reviews, memes, and blog posts.
It’s also the law that enables platforms to engage in moderation. Without Section 230, individual Wikipedia editors or volunteer Reddit moderators could get sued just for maintaining an online community. The Internet would become like cable TV, where the only content we can see is what has been run through some big corporation’s legal department.
Blowing up Section 230 would eradicate online free expression and make Big Tech monopolies like Facebook and Google even more powerful. We have to stop this. Will you chip in to help us fight this?
We’re organizing a massive campaign to do for Section 230 what we did for net neutrality. First we’ll go into rapid response mode to flood lawmakers with phone calls and generate mainstream press coverage to stop this attempt to ram through a repeal in the NDAA. Then we’ll build a huge coalition of nonprofits, Internet experts, and small businesses to beat back future legislative attacks.
But we can’t do any of this if we don’t have the resources. And there’s no foundation funding to defend Section 230. So we’re counting on people like you who understand why this matters to make the work possible.
Chip in to help us launch a net neutrality style campaign to defend Section 230 and Internet freedom.
Thanks for all you do,
-Evan at Fight for the Future
