John,

We stand at a pivotal moment in history. Our nation and the world are watching us.

Twice this week Michigan made national news because of naked partisanship and efforts to create doubts about our democracy.

First, after initially choosing unbridled partisanship, the two Republicans on the Wayne County Board of Canvassers reversed and voted to certify Wayne County’s election results.

Then, our state Senate Majority Leader and Speaker of the House accepted a personal invitation and visited Trump at the White House yesterday.

The Republicans canvassers would never have reversed their votes had it not been for the nearly three hours of public comments pointing out the shameful attempt to disenfranchise tens of thousands of voters. Michiganders stood up and fought for our country, and the principle of counting every vote.

Our nation and the world is watching us to see if our elected officials will choose loyalty to one man over our democracy and country.

With our state Senate Majority Leader and Speaker of the House having met with Trump, we need to make sure we are ready to stand up to any attempt to undermine our democracy.

Contact them and let them know that the will of the people is not to be overturned:
Also, please join my team and I for the Board of State Canvassers virtual meeting on Monday, November 23, where the four-member board will vote to certify Michigan's election results. This meeting is open to the public. More information can be found here: https://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,4670,7-127-1633_41221---,00.html

Best,

Donna
