Dear John:

We have to create a New York City where working people can not just survive, but thrive. Building a New York City where we can all live and thrive is a big challenge -- and getting it done will be a team effort. To make that a reality, we need to build a progressive bench to enact transformative policies at every level of government.

That’s why today, I’m incredibly proud to join Team Lander and endorse Brad to be our next NYC Comptroller!

On the New York City Council, Brad has been an unyielding advocate for using thoughtful, data-driven policymaking to address public safety and public health issues, from making our streets safe for pedestrians to his commitment to divest from policing and invest in our communities.

Bringing NYC into a brighter future will take ALL of us working together -- from the streets to the City Council to the Office of Comptroller and beyond. Can you split $20.21 between our campaigns today and make sure we elect a strong progressive team in 2021? [[link removed]]

Brad was there for me when I ran for Queens District Attorney in 2019, as were many of you. He saw -- you saw -- the need for a fundamental rethinking of how our city approaches public safety.

Together, we built a movement calling for the end of the prison-industrial system that brutalizes Black, brown, immigrant, and poor folks. We built a movement around the understanding that our society has been punting public health problems to our carceral systems, and it’s long past time that we invest in the true sources of safety.

We need public health solutions for public health problems and community-centered strategies for accountability and safety.

As NYC Comptroller, Brad will continue to be part of that movement: by auditing policing strategies that fail to make us safer while reproducing racial inequality and identifying strategies that better achieve safety, health, and justice for all New Yorkers. He modeled that approach today, launching a new plan to tackle traffic violence and make streets safer while reducing the role of police and potential for racial profiling in traffic enforcement.

In 2021, we have the opportunity to elect progressives at every level of NYC government to build a just recovery, act on climate change, and transform public safety in our city.

Brad and I are both committed to running people-powered, grassroots-funded campaigns. Every $1 you donate to each of our campaigns will be matched by $8 in public financing. Split a donation of $20.21 or any amount and help elect two progressive champions for NYC → [[link removed]]
