Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is calling on all governments, including the United States, to support the waiver of certain intellectual property protections during the COVID-19 pandemic. We issued a statement in support of a landmark request to the World Trade Organization put forward by India and South Africa that would allow all countries to choose to not grant or enforce patents on COVID-19 products. This move would pave the way for more affordable generic versions of desperately needed drugs, vaccines, and diagnostics. “Countries need to use every tool available to make sure that COVID-19 medical products are accessible and affordable for everyone who needs them,” says Dr. Sidney Wong, executive
