Hunger then and now.

Friend,

Hunger, like most problems in America, is closely tied to other deeply rooted issues.

Even with the stock market soaring, in 2018, poverty remained high in America with 38.1 million Americans living below the poverty line, contributing to the 37.2 million U.S. households at the time that were classified as “food insecure,” meaning that they could not afford a sufficient amount of food.

Because of the pandemic and mass unemployment -- in March alone, unemployment rose from 1.4 million to 7.1 million -- that number has since ballooned to an estimated 54 million Americans. Can you contribute $10, $15, or $20 today to get food and support services to one of those 54 million? ([link removed])

Unfortunately, most states, counties, and cities have also downsized their social service workforces that could help lift up these families and point them to the resources they need to flourish. This makes our SNAP and WIC outreach more urgent than ever, as we work to connect households with the nutrition benefits that might be the difference between parents not knowing how they will afford dinner for their kids and a household in which everyone is nourished.

Hunger knows no bounds and touches every community in the United States. Even yours. As we face this unprecedented crisis, more folks need more help than ever before. Can you be part of the solution? ([link removed])

Together, we can end this crisis,
Joel
