Recent polls of the Georgia Senate runoffs show that Raphael Warnock has widened his lead over Kelly Loeffler, and that Jon Ossoff and David Perdue are virtually tied in their own race.
Meanwhile, David Perdue is being investigated for buying and selling stocks in a Navy contractor before and after he took over the Senate subcommittee that oversees the fleet. Kelly Loeffler, on the other hand, most recently appears to have omitted a holding company from her federally mandated financial disclosures, which violates Senate ethics rules and federal law.
Both Republican senators are vulnerable — and they know it. In fact, they've gone so far as to break campaign finance laws in order to solicit donations on Fox News.
Right now, momentum is on our side. But there are still 45 days until the runoff elections. We must keep it up in order to win on January 5th.
Remember, the results of these tough runoff elections will determine which party holds Senate control in the next Congress, so it's critical that we turn out every voter who showed up in the general election once more:
Everyone knows what's at stake — including the Republican Party, who's funnelling millions of dollars into Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue's campaigns. Republicans and folks like Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell want to make sure they can maintain their Senate majority to block progress on additional COVID relief, criminal justice reform, climate change, and much more.
Thankfully, John, that can end next year — but only if we fight hard enough to take back control right now.
Together, we can flip the Senate and continue to build progressive power in Congress.
