Two members of Congress speak with youth organizers about the #GlobalClimateStrike and the path forward.
Dear John,
Don't miss this exciting event with Congressmen Jamie Raskin (MD-08) and Hank Johnson (GA-04) next Thursday to talk about the #GlobalClimateStrike.
Event Description: CCL-DC is partnering with Busboys and Poets to bring these two Congressmen--both cosponsors of HR 763 The Energy Innovation Act (!)--to speak with youth climate activists. Student organizers Lana Weidgenant from Zero Hour and two high school activists, Maddie and Jordan from Blair High School, will discuss their views on the strike and ask the question that's on everybody's mind: how will our elected leaders internalize the message from the Climate Strike?
Meetup with CCL-DC at the DC #GlobalClimateStrike! We'll meet at 10:30am at the entrance to National Gallery of Art, East Wing, near the Henry Moore sculpture.
At 11am we will join a much larger group (DC Youth Climate Strike) across the street at John Marshall Park (400 block of Constitution Ave). Together, we will March to Capitol Hill. The March is from 11am to 2pm.
Climate Outreach Day! Saturday, September 21, 10am-4pm Lincoln Memorial
Citizens' Climate Lobby is doing climate outreach on the steps in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Last time we collected 260 letters to Congress calling for climate action! How many will we get this time?
The purpose is to diversify audiences we are talking to and empower tourists who come from different parts of the country (with voting representation in Congress).
NEW VOLUNTEERS ARE WELCOME. Experienced CCLers will be on hand to help you be comfortable in this role.
New to climate activism? Check out our Climate Action Open House at Hole in the Sky. There will be rotating stations on climate action, food, and fun vibes for those looking to make a difference on climate change.
Part of the CCL chapter? Join your fellow volunteers at 7pm for a private, volunteers only NO-AGENDA social event! Hole in the Sky (HITS) is hosting a Climate Action Volunteer Party, where you can chat with your fellow CCL volunteers and activists about anything and everything. Get to know each other in a relaxed setting outside of our busy chapter meetings.
