With just a little more than six weeks until their January runoffs, Republican Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue got support from one of the biggest names in the GOP. Vice President Mike Pence traveled to Georgia Friday to headline what the Georgia Republican Party labeled “Defend the Majority” rallies.

“It is great to be back in the Peach State!” Pence told the crowd gathered outside Chattahoochee Technical College in Canton.

“The President wanted me to be here today because we need Georgia to send these two great Senators back to a Republican majority. First because of who they are. Second because of all we've accomplished, and because the Republican Senate majority could be the last line of defense for all that we've done to defend this nation, revive our economy and preserve the God-given liberty that we hold dear.”

Today, the Washington Post made some good points ([link removed][UNIQID]) about Republicans plans for the runoff:
Amid the coming flood of campaign ads and carefully crafted messages, only one party is truly communicating the stakes of the election. It’s the Republicans.

They’re the only ones reminding voters just how important this election is, because if Democrats win both seats, they’ll have a Senate majority and Joe Biden might actually be able to implement the legislative agenda he was elected on, while if Republicans win just one of the two, they’ll retain control and will almost certainly bring about an era of unprecedented obstruction.

So what’s happening in Georgia, so far anyway, is a pair of races where the Republicans are communicating the real stakes, and the Democrats seem to want to make the race smaller.

The relationship between the two candidates could hamper Democratic hopes of winning a de facto Senate majority in January. During the same Wednesday event, Ossoff told reporters that he and Warnock are running as a "team," calling the pastor an "inspirational leader." The Democrat also called Warnock a "moral leader for our state and our country" at a Sunday campaign stop in Cobb County.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) defended Georgia Democratic Senate candidate Raphael Warnock's claim that "nobody can serve God and the military" on Wednesday, calling criticism of Warnock's comments "a disgrace and shameful."

Omar—who has her own history of controversial comments about U.S. troops—came to Warnock's defense, after the Washington Free Beacon reported on his 2011 sermon in which he argued there is a conflict between serving God and the military. Video of the sermon drew sharp criticism from Republicans this week, including calls for Warnock to drop out of the race from Sens. Tom Cotton (Ark.) and Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.).
