We’re scaling up our digital organizing infrastructure to counter Exxon’s deception.
Hey, John,
Just two days ago, an investigation revealed that Exxon Mobil has quietly been running a fossil fuel ad campaign far larger than anyone suspected. Part of the over $15 million they’ve spent on ads in just two years has gone toward using accounts deceptively not tied to Exxon to rally support for oil and gas and influence legislation to their benefit.1
As usual, fossil fuel executives are using their billions to manipulate and divide us. People-powered organizations like Sunrise are their biggest threat, because all the money in the world can’t fight back against communities that organize and unite to stop these corporations in their tracks.
This situation makes clear that we can’t ease back the pressure for even one second. Our opponents never miss any opportunity to push their world-ending agenda, so we have to push back just as hard.
Especially as COVID cases spike once more and cities go into another round of lockdown, organizing digitally is more important than ever. We need to beef up our social media game by training organizers, adding staff to our digital team, and funding the digital tools used by Sunrise hubs around the country. Can you chip in monthly so we can grow our digital power?
