Dear John,

When he talks about caregiving, Joe Biden talks from experience. And it’s not just the experience of being a long-time legislator… it’s his real experience of being a family caregiver.

The Biden-Harris caregiving plan would simplify the lives of family caregivers in truly incredible ways. We need the Biden Administration to know that caregiving families support this plan and that we want to see it implemented in full.

The Biden-Harris plan will do a lot of important things for caregiving families: Expanding family leave will mean caregivers don’t have to worry about whether to care for their loved ones or miss a paycheck. Clearing state waitlists for home care will mean families can get the support they need faster, without years of stress. Providing a single portal for local caregiving resources will mean caregivers can save hours scouring dozens of websites to see what resources they qualify for. And improving child care for all families will mean that kids get a better start, and parents can get back to work when they’re ready.

These improvements would be game-changing for our families, and would make caregiving just that much easier. Will you sign the pledge now?

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Biden talked about caregiving on the campaign trail — he has been a caregiver as long as he has been in public life. He was a single parent after his first wife was killed in a car accident, and leaned on his family for support. Later, his parents moved in with him, and he and his wife Jill cared for them at the end of their lives. And just a few years ago, they cared for Biden’s son Beau as he died of cancer.

Kamala Harris has been a caregiver, too. She talks often about the lessons she learned from her mother, and what it meant to be by her side, cooking for her and holding her hand during chemotherapy, before she passed away from cancer. And has said that being “Momala” to her stepchildren is the most important title she has.

The Biden and Harris families understand what it means to care, and what caregiving families go through every day. We know they want to do the right thing for caregivers — now we have to make sure they know we’re behind them.

Will you join us to urge the Biden Administration to prioritize caregiving? Sign the petition today.
