Dear Law Students,

Free Animal Legal Defense Fund Sign

We're offering free Animal Legal Defense Fund signs to student chapters to use in the background for your virtual meetings and events. Email Animal Law Program Fellow Alyssa with your school name and personal address if you would like one for your chapter!

Emergency Response Scholarships

The Animal Legal Defense Fund is currently accepting applications for its Emergency Response Scholarships. We recognize that law students now face unique and additional stressors during the COVID-19 pandemic, including financial stress that might increase barriers to continuing in law school. These scholarships are available to Animal Legal Defense Fund student chapter members who have shown a commitment to protecting the lives and advancing the interests of animals through their chapter and are experiencing a financial hardship due to world events. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Remote Legislative Affairs Clerkships

The Animal Legal Defense Fund is hiring remote clerks for next summer in our Legislative Affairs Program! Summer clerkships are full-time (35 hours a week) for 10 weeks. The wage is $18/hour.

Emergency Course Funding

Recognizing that COVID-19 related budget cuts and faculty layoffs are forcing law schools to cancel elective animal law courses, the Animal Legal Defense Fund is expanding its existing seed grant program to also offer emergency grants to law schools who have had to cancel an animal law course for COVID-19 related reasons. Emergency course grants are available to any accredited U.S. law school. Grants will be made for amounts up to $5,000, to be used for faculty compensation.
