Every year, City & State New York publishes a list called "Women's Power 100" to celebrate one hundred influential women in public office. And I'm so proud to be a part of this list again for 2020, surrounded by other exceptional women leaders across our state.
There is no doubt that women are on the rise in New York politics. But it's not just government where women are making incredible strides — more and more, we continue to see bold women filling leadership positions in business, health, education, media, nonprofits, advocacy, and more.
Gender equality and women's progress have been among my top priorities for my entire career. I have fought to ensure that women have the same opportunities as men in housing, employment, education, healthcare, and beyond. I'm proud to have spearheaded efforts to pass the Equal Rights Amendment, as well as introducing and co-sponsoring legislation like the Violence Against Women Act, the Diversity in Corporate Leadership Act, the Women and Minorities in STEM Booster Act, the Debbie Smith Act, and the Smithsonian Women's History Museum Act, and others.
I will continue pioneering victories for women in all sectors across the country and fighting for fair representation until all forms of discrimination against women are extinct. I won't stop championing women's equality, and I'm hoping to have your support in the fight.
