A trucking strike in Brazil paralyzed the country for 10 days in 2018 but problems didn't end there. This article by a man who witnessed the entire thing from Sao Paolo says that systemic instability has been ongoing.

We in the US should take note. Americans often like to think we're immune to the struggles that have occurred in other countries, but yet again, there are warning signs all around us that we, too, could face similar long-term disruptions. And those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it, as the old adage cautions.

It's important to note that this isn't to say I'm against the trucker strike - people need to do what they believe is the ethical and moral thing. But we must be aware of the potential consequences and be ready for them.
