Hi Everyone,
We have two quick and friendly reminders for you. Today, 11/20, is the first day of early voting for the December 5th runoff election in Orleans Parish. Libraries and library workers’ jobs are on the ballot. We’re working hard with our
Save Your Nola Library coalition to
Vote No On Proposition 2! Information about the campaign and how to get involved can be found at
saveyournolalibrary.com.
Early voting will continue from 8:30 a.m. till 6 p.m. through Nov. 28. There will be no in person voting on Sunday, nor on Thanksgiving Day or the day after (Nov. 26 & 27).The deadline to request a mail ballot from the Registrar’s office is Dec. 1 by 4:30 p.m. The deadline for the office to receive a voted mail ballot is Dec. 4 by 4:30 p.m.
We also would like to give another quick reminder about our November General Meeting. The meeting is tomorrow, Saturday November 21st at 2:00 p.m.
We’ll need an extra high turnout to conduct business due to our
massive boost in membership during our
100k drive. The General Meeting is the most important meeting we hold each month - it's the highest decision making body in the whole chapter. This is where we all come together to make collective decisions about how to proceed - what kind of work we should take on, how we should structure ourselves, what our political values should be. If you can only make one DSA meeting each month, you should come to this one and make your voice heard!
You can register for that meeting here!
Solidarity,
DSA New Orleans Local Council
P.P.S. Not yet a member? The most important tool that the working class has is organization. We're strong when we fight together. We have to build a durable, mass political organization to wield the kind of power we need to win real change in our society.
If you aren't a dues-paying member of DSA yet, join here!
