Trump’s EPA wants to open the door to more pollution and invasive species in our
oceans. Stop the EPA from opening the door to more invasive species.

Cruise ships and cargo ships take in water as they travel. Then, when they reach
port, they discharge this water -- which may contain plant and animal life,
viruses and bacteria.

These ballast water discharges are believed to be the number one source of
invasive aquatic species in the United States. We can’t let the EPA water down
the rules that keep our waters safe.

Tell the EPA: Protect our oceans from invasive species!

[[link removed]]A few of the invasive species that have been introduced through ballast water
discharges include the Australian Spotted Jellyfish, Lionfish, Giant Salvinia
and Zebra Mussels.

These species are impossible to get rid of once established. They cost billions in economic damage and permanently disrupt marine
ecosystems.

The EPA’s proposal to gut the rules governing ballast water discharges could
lead to more of these invasive species being introduced in more new places. This
would cause extensive ecological and economic damage to our oceans, Great Lakes
ecosystems, and coastal communities.

Take action now to prevent more invasive species from entering our oceans and
Great Lakes.

their power to protect the environments they travel through.

But instead, the EPA is working to benefit the cruise and shipping industries at
the expense of our oceans and coastal communities.

Together, we can stop this attack on our oceans and coastal communities. The EPA
is required to consider public input on this issue. So we need you to speak up
now, John, before it’s too late.
