The boom in the Permian Basin is a story we’re dedicated to. A trip to Midland provides an even closer look.

On the road to Midland for today’s broadcast event with Marfa Public Radio , the road widened as the setting sun lit the clouds a purple blue from below. I was alone – except for the occasional passing 18-wheeler – and that's when I first noticed them: tall towers of orange flame dotting the horizon, one, two, three and many more, until the colors of the flares were blotted out by the bright lights of the place they call the Tall City. The boom in the Permian Basin is a story we’re dedicated to – and today’s show from the Petroleum Museum in Midland, as part of our "Untapped" series following the ups and downs of growth in the region – promises an even more in-depth look. We hope you tune in and take something away from the stories in today’s newsletter as well. Until next week, we’ll see ya on the radio.
