We need to act quickly to block Nathan Simington from the FCC.
John,
The Senate is considering a nominee to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) who is even worse than Ajit Pai, and if we don’t act fast he might be confirmed.1
Nathan Simington is a telecom lawyer who had a direct hand in drafting the Trump administration’s blatantly unconstitutional executive order that would blow up Section 230 and essentially turn the FCC into online speech police.2 He is also supported by the same Big Telecom companies that lobbied to kill net neutrality.3
And aside from this attack on free speech, Simington has almost no relevant experience for the position.
But here’s the good news: We really do have a chance at blocking this terrible nominee. It’s often hard to win when it comes to the Senate, but because he is so unqualified, Simington doesn’t have a ton of support. If we can get just a couple of Republicans to signal their opposition, we can keep Simington off the FCC.
Making this call is really easy. Here’s what you do:
We’ll give you a call and when you answer we’ll connect you to Senate offices.
Tell them you’re calling to oppose the confirmation of telecom lawyer Nathan Simington to the FCC because he is unqualified and supports online censorship.
Hit the star (*) key and we’ll connect you to another key office.
