Friend -

Women need more options.

Providers need more training.

What we’ve been doing for the last 50 or 60 years just isn’t working. And now we’re seeing outcomes that are worse. All while spending more than ever on healthcare.

We need to do things differently. [[link removed]]

Practitioners like me - we know the value of midwifery as a whole. We know the value of having women of color in the birthing process. Yet, we only make up 6% of the midwifery practice in this country.

Yes, 6%.

Institutionalized racism and systemic racism have limited the opportunities for midwives of color. Coupled with disempowered and disenfranchised women - the maternity care of women of color has diverged from that of white women in this country.

We know the value of relationship-based care. We know the value of midwifery as a whole.

What we need to address are the disparities and in doing so will help women everywhere have better outcomes. That’s why I’m proud to serve on the board of March for Moms.

I see first hand every day in my job at Community of Hope families come in and want to start their families safely and with dignity. March for Moms is helping raise awareness around maternal health.

Join me in supporting March for Moms in this season of gratitude. [[link removed]]
