As the weather gets colder, the COVID-19 virus continues to surge in Los Angeles and across the U.S. Over the last week, California has averaged over 9,000 new cases each day, and earlier this week, we hit our worst COVID-19 day on record since this pandemic began in March.

These are difficult times, especially since they're normally spent celebrating holidays with family. But in order to flatten this curve, we need to work together and keep our community healthy.

Below, I've outlined some local resources and events available to Angelenos to help keep them safe from COVID-19. In the meantime, wear a mask, stay at home if you're able, and follow me on social media to stay up to date on COVID-19 information.

COVID-19 Guidelines

Effective tomorrow, November 20, the County of Los Angeles will tighten guidelines to help tackle rising COVID-19 cases. These restrictions include a 10:00pm curfew for restaurants and bars, a 25% capacity limit for non-essential indoor businesses, and more. Click here to read these new guidelines.

Testing

If you are exhibiting symptoms, have been asked to get a test for contact tracing purposes, or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive, please get tested immediately. In our District, sites include Dodger Stadium (open daily from 8:00am to 8:00pm) and more. Flu Shots

The City of Los Angeles is offering free flu shots across the city, including at Lincoln Park (Tues., Wed., Sat., 8:00am to 3:00pm) and L.A. Christian Presbyterian Church (Saturday, November 21, 9:00am to 3:00pm). Click here for a full list of flu shot sites.

You can also visit an L.A. County Public Health Clinic to receive a vaccine.

Cal State L.A. Flu Shot Clinic

Tomorrow, Friday, November 20, Cal State L.A. will host a free flu shot clinic from 10:00am to 2:00pm! Open to everyone 9-years old and up, be sure to swing by and get your family vaccinated.

Para Los Niños PPE Giveaway

Also tomorrow, Para Los Niños will be giving away free personal protective equipment (PPE) from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at 474 Hartford Avenue. Stop by so you can mask up!

Anderson Munger Family YMCA Flu Shot Clinic

On Mondays, November 23 and 30, and Wednesdays, November 25, the Anderson Munger Family Y is hosting a free flu shot clinic from 9:00am to 11:00am each day.

Karsh Center Big Give Week

Next week, the Karsh Center in Koreatown is distributing nutritious food for the Thanksgiving holiday on Sunday, November 22 (1:00 to 4:00pm), Monday, November 23 (9:30am to 4:00pm), and Tuesday, November 24 (9:00am to 1:00pm). Weingart East L.A. Food Distribution

The Weingart YMCA in Boyle Heights, at 2900 Whittier Boulevard, is hosting a no-cost food distribution Monday through Friday from 11:00am until supplies last. Families can come to pick up nutritious meals, fresh produce, and pet food.
