We are all asking what’s next - for our country and our communities. 

What is the path forward in a year unlike any we’ve seen in our lived history? Who is equipped to guide us into becoming the country we aspire to be?

At NLC, we know this much to be true: change does not happen with just one year, one election, or one individual leader. It takes years of hard work, and must take root through local leaders who know what their communities need and know how to lead in this moment.

Today, we’re proud to announce what’s next for leadership. The 2021 cohort of New Leaders Council Fellows includes 866 emerging leaders who are committed to building a country that centers equity, progress, and justice. They are educators, organizers, journalists, entrepreneurs, and elected officials.

And they’re ready to write the next chapter in our country’s history. 

Starting in January, they will connect with each other as NLC fellows, where over six months they will have the opportunity to learn the power of their personal and collective stories. They are joining nearly 9,000 NLC alumni, who have spent the past 15 years creating an ecosystem of local change makers organized to progress us forward.

Please join me in congratulating the newest members of the NLC community. They are the leaders we need today and tomorrow.
