Only Congress Can End
the China Trade War Quagmire

Next month, the Trump administration and China plan to resume high-level talks on the dispute over Chinese interests' use of American intellectual property, but there is little optimism that the escalating trade war will end anytime soon. Americans are already feeling the consequences of this trade war. Fortunately, Congress has the ability to reassert its authority over trade policy before the administration's commercial war with China can inflict further damage on the US economy. It's time to restore this authority as the Constitution and Founding Fathers fully intended, trade policy is too important to be left solely to the discretion of the president.

Like the Affordable Care Act, repeal-and-replace proposals, and Medicare for All, the public option assumes that we can cut costs and expand coverage by altering the payment system.
