The latest NDIS news - without the spin or jargon No images? Click here Hi Supporter,
That's the view of just one of our Every Australian Counts supporters about the introduction of compulsory assessments to the NDIS. Our supporter has had his say about the new NDIS assessments – now it’s time for you to have your say too. In the last couple of weeks we have seen MPs stand up in Federal Parliament and say what they think about the new NDIS assessment process. One told Parliament they were necessary because people’s treating doctors and allied health professionals could not be trusted to do assessments or write reports. Their reports were clouded by “sympathy bias”. Another said he did not believe there was an “outcry” about these assessments – because no one had contacted his office to say so. We’ve heard your stories about why you are so worried about their introduction. Thank you for trusting us with them. But now MPs need to hear them too. We are going to take your stories to Canberra. So visit our new action page and tell us why you don’t think these new assessments will work for you. You can tell us your story in writing or through a short video. We will then bundle all these stories up and share them with every single MP in the Federal Parliament. And the Minister for the NDIS. But for this to work, we really need your help. We want the MPs to hear your stories. So if you are worried about what these assessments will mean for you NOW is the time to speak up. There’s not a moment to waste. This is the biggest change to the scheme since it began. And it is being rushed through. And finally …Last week the NDIA released their latest Quarterly Report. And this latest version features a new report card looking at how the NDIS is tracking. It all looked just as we expected – until we got to the bit about changes to plan flexibility. Where we found out that greater flexibility in using our NDIS funds is even further away than we all thought. If you want to know what else we found when we went digging around, check out our summary. We also have all the latest changes to restrictions and rules in South Australia all in one handy place on our website. And to all our friends over the border in South Australia – we are based in Melbourne so we know just how hard this all is. We are sending you the biggest virtual hug ❤️ That’s about it for now. As always – thank you for all that you do. Kirsten and the Every Australian Counts team |
