When We All Vote
------------------------------
John,
While we celebrate record voter turnout in Georgia and across the country this fall, our work is far from over. There are still critical races that aren’t decided yet in Georgia and we need everyone in the Peach State to turn out and make sure their voice is heard. Keep reading for everything you need to know as a Georgia voter or to help someone in Georgia get out to vote!
What’s a runoff?
On Tuesday, January 5th, 2021, Georgia will be holding runoff elections for its two seats in the United States Senate, which will also decide which party controls the chamber. A runoff election occurs when no candidate in the general election meets the 50% majority threshold. In this case, both U.S. Senate races in Georgia will move on to a runoff. Only two candidates for each race will compete for the seat -- and who wins will be determined by YOU.
Who can participate?
Any eligible voter in Georgia! If you live in Georgia, this is your chance to make your voice heard once again or for the first time. You did not have to vote in the November 3rd elections to be eligible to participate in the runoffs. And if you weren’t old enough to vote on November 3rd, that’s okay! As long as you will be 18 by January 5th, you can vote in the runoff elections.
If you or someone you know in Georgia is not registered to vote yet, the registration deadline for the Georgia runoffs is Monday, December 7th. Don’t wait -- get registered now!
