POLITICO: “Georgia’s chief election official announced … that the state will conduct a recount by hand of every ballot cast in the presidential race” -- all as Georgia’s Republican governor tweeted that the results “will include legally cast ballots - and ONLY legally cast ballots. Period.”
Donald Trump’s response? “This is good news, it means I won!”
Trump has already “claimed” Georgia -- which is his euphemism for stealing the election. And, as he has repeatedly promised, he’s weaponizing our legal system to do so.
Why is Trump so confident that he can take Georgia’s 16 electoral votes? Maybe it’s because The Atlanta Journal-Constitution found that “the Georgia lawyers representing the Trump campaign in its efforts to challenge election results [in the state] are also defending the integrity of the state’s voting system in an ongoing lawsuit.”
Trump’s own lawyers also work for the Georgia secretary of state’s office.
But friend, we have the power to fight back IMMEDIATELY. As POLITICO reports: “Small-dollar contributors could play a critical role in funding legal efforts” to push back against Trump, especially in light of how much impact grassroots donors have already had this election cycle.
You’re the key to fighting against tyranny and protecting our democracy. But as one of Joe Biden’s lawyers warns: “There are going to be individual lawsuits in each state … It’s going to become a legal nightmare.”
