The Biden-Harris administration has a huge opportunity to enact this kind of change on a wide-scale level by appointing reform-minded leaders for US Attorney and federal judge positions.

Real Justice

John,

I founded Real Justice PAC because one of the most powerful levers to change our justice system from inside out, is by undoing the culture of prosecution that pervades local District Attorney’s offices and Judicial chambers.

From Philadelphia, to Los Angeles — we’ve seen the transformative power of replacing career prosecutors with civil rights advocates and public defenders committed to reform, equality, and justice.

The Biden-Harris administration has a huge opportunity to enact this kind of change on the federal level by appointing civil rights attorneys or public defenders to US Attorney and federal judge positions.

That’s why I’m reaching out today to ask you to sign our petition calling on the Biden-Harris administration to commit to making reform-minded appointments. Can you join thousands of people demanding change from the Biden-Harris team by adding your name right now? I need as many people as possible to do this – immediately.

Our Demands for the Biden-Harris team:

Currently, the Department of Justice and the federal judiciary share one troubling thing in common: they are made up almost exclusively of prosecutors. In countless cities and counties across the country, we are seeing radical improvements and changes in the justice system when public defenders and civil rights attorneys are elected to leadership roles. The Biden-Harris administration must duplicate this, going beyond a small pool of prosecutors, and appointing people with diverse experience who have represented and worked with those most impacted by decades of the War on Drugs and tough-on-crime policies.

  • Appoint a qualified current or former civil rights attorney or public defender as the Attorney General, Solicitor General, the head of the Civil Rights Division and his or her deputies, and the head of the criminal division.
  • Appoint current and former public defenders as United States Attorneys.
  • Appoint current and former public defenders, and civil rights attorneys, as federal judges.
  • Appoint current and former public defenders, and civil rights attorneys, to the sentencing commission.

SIGN THE PETITION »

Already, 35 families who’ve suffered deeply from police violence and mass incarceration have co-signed our demands – including the families of Philando Castille, Ahmaud Arbery, and Atatiana Jefferson.

Lives depend on enough of us demanding change in who’s leading critical decisions in our criminal justice system – that’s why so many families who’ve lost loved ones are in this fight with us.

The question now is will you fight with us, John? Please sign our petition as soon as you can so we can deliver it to top officials in the Biden-Harris administration. The more people who sign on, the louder we’ll be heard.

Let’s do this,
Shaun
