Dear John,

Last week, Michigan Governor Whitmer announced she is revoking Enbridge’s Line 5 Oil Pipeline easement in the Straits of Mackinac and ordered the company to stop the flow of oil in this treasured area by next Spring. This is a huge win for the environmental community, the Great Lakes, and the climate!

For years I - and many colleagues across Michigan - have been working to stop Line 5. The aging 67-year-old pipeline has been ripe for an oil spill that would be a disaster for the Great Lakes. While Governor Whitmer’s announcement is a big step in the right direction, we know Enbridge won't go down without a fight.

Even with good news, our work is not over. We need your support to protect the Great Lakes. ([link removed])

I have three girls and when we’re anywhere near Lake Michigan, I hear them begging, “Mom, can we PLEASE go to the beach?". I don’t blame them; the Great Lakes are such a gift that we have in our back yard. They are worth fighting for. ([link removed])

Let’s celebrate good news and then get back to work.
