Help Georgia elect great senators. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Dear John,

Help Georgia Elect Two US Senators to Save Our Climate:

I grew up in Georgia and graduated proudly — from the University of Georgia. Go Dawgs! But I’ve never been more proud of my home state than when it turned “blue” on November 3, electing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Now the whole country needs Georgia to win again. I moved to Washington, D.C. in the 1980s and later launched the Chesapeake Climate Action Network and CCAN Action Fund. Now I’m headed back to Georgia to help two US Senate candidates in special runoffs. These elections, on January 5, could save our nation and the global climate. Won’t you help?

Help Democrats Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock win their U.S. Senate races in Georgia. If the Democrats win on January 5, Joe Biden can pass clean energy legislation to save America and the world from climate change. Please sign up to make calls, write letters, and send texts to Georgia voters.

We’re partnering with our friends at Vote Forward to write letters to Georgia. And we’re phone banking voters with the group Flip the West. As for texting, we’ve got several partners. And door knocking may come later. We’ll keep you posted.

I know you’re already tired as hell from the Biden vs. Trump race. So am I. But let’s remember: We won that race!! CCAN Action Fund volunteers like you wrote an incredible 17,000 letters to voters in Pennsylvania and we placed 30,000 phone calls to Pennsylvania and North Carolina. We sent even more text messages 300,000 to battleground voters.

And we’re almost done. Biden and Harris will take office January 20th. But without two Senate victories in Georgia, they’ll have Mitch McConnell doing Exxon’s bidding and killing all climate legislation. Sure President Biden can do much by executive order, including rejoin the Paris climate accord, revamp the US EPA, and fundamentally embrace basic science (what a concept!). But what he really needs is a Democratic Senate.

Help Democrats Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock win their US Senate races in Georgia. Please sign up to make calls, write letters, and send texts. If the Democrats win on January 5, Joe Biden can pass clean energy legislation to save America and the world from climate change.

So please, enjoy an extra glass of champagne from the Biden/Harris victory. Then help us close the deal by reaching millions of voters in Georgia. Your calls and letters and texts will inform voters that the deadline to register to vote in the special elections is December 7th. Early in-person voting in the state begins December 14th. We’ll also tell folks how to apply for an absentee ballot.

As for me, I’m gonna make calls and send letters for the next month to my home state. Then I’ll travel home for the holidays to table or knock on doors in Georgia. I’ll share info soon on how you can join me and others for in-person canvassing in the coming weeks.

For now, sign up to volunteer and make these campaigns in Georgia part of your life. Let’s save Georgia and our Congress and our nation. I’m up for the fight. Are you?

On we go,
