Hi there, We’re facing one daunting crisis after another, and it’s easy to start questioning whether we as ordinary people can really make a difference. But the evidence from social movements throughout history says that we are exactly the only ones who can. And studying the successes and failures of these movements shows us the path forward. Direct Action Everywhere, the animal rights activist network I co-founded in 2013, hosts a monthly workshop on this topic called “How to Change the World in One Generation.” The workshop focuses on how we can apply the lessons of history to take down Big Ag and advance animal rights, but the stories and insights in the workshop ring true across movements. Whatever issues are on the top of your mind right now, whether you’re feeling discouraged or inspired at this moment of so much change, I have one recommendation for you: join the workshop this Saturday at 1pm. With examples from the Arab Spring to the Civil Rights Movement, it will show you one very important thing: the potential is in your hands to create massive change. And the world needs people like you right now. RSVP to the workshop here and join on Saturday with this Zoom link. And feel free to email Almira@directactioneverywhere. Wayne |
