Dear John,
As a country, we are facing threats to our life and liberty. A persistent health crisis, clashes between protesters and civil authorities, and a sharply contentious election season have defined both our politics and our society.
We stand in a house divided.
What can unite us as a country are the principles set forth in our Declaration of Independence and Constitution.
We should be falling back on our founding principles as the bedrock of our freedom. But too many Americans lack a basic knowledge of those ideals or the great vision of equality and individual liberty the founders set forth for us to achieve.
And yet, ours is the land of hope. America's history and core values offer us the path forward. The pursuit of happiness is founded in pursuit of truth. Our freedoms are protected in the classroom.
In Jack Miller's own words, "The battle for the soul of our nation will be won or lost in the classroom."
At the Jack Miller Center, we have built a nationwide coalition of almost 1,000 college educators, across over 300 campuses, committed to inspiring the next generation of thoughtful citizens.
From education for undergraduates to programs for middle and high school teachers, we can ensure our young people gain an understanding of the history and principles of our nation. There is much work yet to be done.
This Thanksgiving, we give thanks for the freedoms our great country has given us.
To preserve those freedoms, please consider a gift to the Jack Miller Center. Help us reinvigorate our country's civic education at all levels. Together, we can restore truth to our nation's classrooms.
With gratitude,

Michael Andrews, PhD
President
