The incoming Biden-Harris Administration has made handling the COVID-19 crisis their first priority when they officially begin in January – but the health and economic effects of the pandemic are worsening for a growing list of Americans right now .

There hasn’t been a new economic relief package since May, and many parts of the country are facing new lockdowns in an attempt to quell the recent alarming rise in cases. This puts millions of people in increasingly dire situations leading into the holidays.

On December 26, a little more than five weeks from today, 12 million Americans will lose unemployment benefits that have kept them afloat when federal support expires. We must pass new pandemic relief legislation now.
