Hi John,

Yesterday, Boris Johnson unveiled his 10-point plan for a green recovery.
Sadly, his plan overlooks one of the major causes of the climate crisis:
out-of-control banks and the fossil fuel industry they finance.

Since this pandemic started, the Bank of England has been bailing out big
polluters and doing little to nothing to regulate UK banks that are
pouring billions into fossil fuel projects. But the Bank of England is
supposed to work for people like me and you - not polluters and their
dirty interests.

Over the coming months, we are ramping up the pressure to remind them of
that fact. We’ve got plans for large-scale days of action, workshops,
online and offline campaigns - all aimed at putting pressure on the Bank
of England to stop giving billions to polluters.

[ [link removed] ]But before we lock in our organizing plans, we need your help. Can I
count on you to chip in
£3.50
today, so we'll have the resources we need to launch large-scale campaigns
across the country? We'll put your donation right to work demanding the
Bank of England end their fossil fuel funding.

Last week, we learned that Barclays financed a staggering $24.5 billion
worth of fossil fuel projects over the last nine months, an increase of
$200 million from the same time last year. [1] Yet, the Bank of England is
doing nothing to stop the climate-wrecking spending of Barclays and other
UK banks. If they wanted, they could keep bad banks in check and stop them
from funding climate breakdown.

We know that the financial system has been rigged for the powerful.
Without pressure from a mass movement of people coming together, it will
remain a plaything for rich investors - who are motivated by profit, not
the needs of the people.

The Bank of England is already feeling the heat. Andrew Bailey, Governor
of the Bank of England, recently admitted that greening the Bank of
England is a “priority”. But so far, he has yet to follow through on his
words. If we are serious about a green and just recovery, we need to
change the rules of the game.

We know that the pandemic has affected many of us deeply, and disrupted
our lives and efforts to organise for climate justice. But we need to keep
going. Your
£3.50
donation today will go towards helping us organize powerful actions to
demand an end to the Bank of England's fossil fuel funding, and a just and
green recovery.

[ [link removed] ]Can you chip in
£3.50
to help grow our movement so we can take powerful action over the coming
months? Together, we can hold the Bank of England accountable for funding
polluters.

Thank you for all of your support, especially during this important moment
as we lock in our organizing plans.

Onwards,

Scott for the 350 Europe team

P.S: Not able to donate right now? That’s all good. There are still ways
you can help add pressure. [ [link removed] ]Sign this petition to give the Bank of
England the push they need to take climate seriously.
