Get Involved!
Whether you’re new to socialism, new to Silicon Valley DSA, or just trying to figure out how you can help, our New Member Orientation is a great place to start! Our next orientation is Saturday, November 21st at 2pm. Join for an introduction on what democratic socialism is, what your local chapter is up to, and how you can help! There will also be a Q&A session for all your burning socialist questions.
ADEM Info Session
The California ADEM elections decide who from each area of the state will lead the state Democratic Party. We’re working to run as many DSA members as we can to shape the state party towards true democratic ends: towards Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, towards abolition and worker power. This event on Thursday, November 19th at 7:30pm will serve as a primer to any DSA member interested in running to be a delegate to the California Democratic Party.
Support South Bay Mutual Aid
The South Bay Mutual Aid fund is aiming to raise $30K in 30 days in November, and we need your help! Do you have a couple dollars you can kick their way, or have friends who might? Share their Insta posts to help spread the word. South Bay Mutual Aid is a Santa Clara County-based initiative aiming to provide relief to those in the community impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.
Are you an aspiring artist, or are you for a fun way to be involved in mutual aid? Join one of SBMA's upcoming watercolor fundraisers! At our open paint nights, you’ll be painting along with one of our mutual aid volunteers who is also an artist. We’ll be painting beautiful still lifes, landscapes, and more.
Healthcare Working Group
Join the healthcare working group on Friday, November 20th at 7pm if you are interested in Medicare for All and health justice! We will be discussing our upcoming Medicare for All webinar, planning meets with state and local officials, and furthering our mutual aid efforts.
Labor Zine and Survey
Join the labor working group on Saturday, November 21st at noon as we work on two projects, a worker coop zine to teach folks about what coops are and why we should support them, and a survey to learn more about the labor organizing needs of SV DSA members.
Defund the Fremont PD
We know the Fremont Police Department is bad, and we’ve begun building our case about a better model around public safety, but we want to get all the facts! So join us to research the Fremont Police Department on Saturday, November 21st at 1pm.
