Meet Janet Dhillon: New EEOC Chair

What Janet Dhillon, the new Chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), loved most about serving as chief legal counsel to three Fortune 500 companies was when she faced completely unexpected challenges. With her kind of spirit, Janet Dhillon is just the right person to take on the challenges, expected and unexpected, of running an organization that has a profound effect on American workplaces.

COMMON BUDGET MYTHS DEBUNKED

There are many misperceptions about where our federal tax dollars go.

HOW TO TALK ABOUT:
THE UNITED NATIONS

  • At the end of World War II, the victorious powers founded the United Nations with a noble goal: “to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war.”
  • The UN’s charter mission includes encouraging and promoting global peace and prosperity, “fundamental human rights” and “fundamental freedoms for all.”
  • Unfortunately, the UN has not lived up to these grand dreams.
  • Not only has it fallen far short, but also too often, on too many fronts, the UN has actively undermined basic freedoms and human rights, pandered to dictators, and fostered conditions that fuel, rather than prevent, conflict.
  • The majority of the countries in the UN are not fully free and democratic; some are outright tyrannies.
  • Unlike a democratic government, the UN is not accountable to any coherent and enforceable legal jurisdiction or any genuinely empowered constituency of voters.
  • There is no mechanism for reliably ensuring that the UN complies with its own charter.
  • The result has been to sustain and entrench a global institution, where the agenda and activities often run counter to U.S. values and interests.

Apparently Scrambling for Cover, New York Times Duo Blame Editors for Omission of Crucial Facts on Kavanaugh

It was easy to recognize immediately that the story alleging a Justice Brett Kavanaugh “bombshell” had rookie mistakes that the city editor on a small town daily wouldn’t have let into the paper back in the day. Yet, this is The New York Times... and it's 2019. And they aren't exactly standing up and taking responsibility on the part of the reporters.

It doesn’t make any of them look good. They were forced to issue a correction not because people were “seizing” on parts of the story... but because it was flat-out wrong. There is no honorable explanation for a mistake this basic and of this magnitude.

Sharia Law Fan Linda Sarsour's Emergence as Bernie Sanders Surrogate

As you may know, Senator Bernie Sanders announced last week that Linda Sarsour is a campaign surrogate. Sarsour rose to national fame as a founder of the Women’s March, and she has praised Sharia Law, under which women have few rights.

Regarding her new role in the Sanders campaign, Sarsour issued a skepticism-inducing tweet claiming that she would be “proud” to help elect the first Jewish president. This is an alliance that deserves some scrutiny.
