In 2016, when he won Wisconsin by about 20,000 votes, Trump said: “The people have spoken and the election is over.” Fast forward to 2020 — Trump lost Wisconsin by about 20,000 votes. But instead of accepting the results, his campaign announced TODAY that they’re filing to recount votes in Milwaukee and Dane Counties. We know: Wisconsinites chose Biden. This latest attempt from Trump to undermine our free and fair elections is a waste of time. Wisconsin ran one of the smoothest and most transparent elections in its history and more Wisconsinites participated in the 2020 election than in any other presidential election before.Our organizers have been working with county parties and neighborhood action teams to recruit and train volunteers all over the state for this moment, but it will cost money.
