Over a week has gone by since news desks and elections experts saw enough to declare Joe Biden President-elect of the United States.

But Donald Trump still has not conceded the election. More than that, he’s actively disputing the results with unsubstantiated claims of rampant voter fraud and malfeasance.

First they wanted to stop the vote prematurely. Now they want every vote triple-checked into December. The fact is, the only election result they’ll accept is one where they have won.

After the results were called in Biden’s favor, Mike Pompeo told reporters that, “There will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration.”

GOP Senators like Mitch McConnell and Chuck Grassley have stood firmly in the President’s camp arguing that he should not concede.

The truth is, Trump knows he lost. But he may never be able to publicly admit it. Instead, he’ll keep riling up his base and grifting donations by continuing to cry wolf at fantastical instances of voter fraud. The GOP’s disinformation campaign also threatens the legitimacy of the election as well as President Biden’s ability to govern.
