We are in the thick of "UN-RIGGING"  the unconstitutionally gerrymandered State House and Senate Legislative Districts - while also riding a huge swell of support in our US Senate race to unseat Thom Tillis!

I am proud to be the voice of my constituents while fighting to ensure their voices remain heard. Permit me a quick story about our fight to preserve strong voter rights.

 

I served on the 2018 Joint Redistricting Committee and took the GOP Majority to task with a line of questioning which lead to their admission of partisan gerrymandering.


Because I “asked too many questions” I was removed from the Redistricting Committee.

Rep Jean Farmer-Butterfield and I have a few things in common:

1. We were the ONLY Democrats (of 170 total  House & Senate seats) drawn into the same districts with incumbent Republicans.

2. Despite this - we PERSISTED and we WON.

3. We were BOTH removed from the 2019 Joint Redistricting Committee because we “ask too many questions”  for Sharpie silencing voters by drawing partisan gerrymandered districts.

Still, I spent all week away from the campaign trail in Raleigh in redistricting committee meetings to continue my fight for the people of North Carolina. The voters should choose who represents them and not elected officials choosing their voters.

I have become a career expert at high efficiency multi-tasking. While I was in session, we earned the support of one of the strongest national PACS promoting progressive and bold leaders to FLIP THE SENATE.
