Friends --

It has been my honor and privilege to serve Utahns in elected office. Thank you for the faith you've put in me and for giving me this opportunity to serve my community.

This was not the outcome we hoped for, but I'm proud of the campaign we ran and the work we did, and I want to thank you for being part of it. Your support continues to humble and inspire me.

Our campaign was centered around a rejection of extremism and the need for leaders who will put the needs of the people they represent before any political party. I want you to know that I remain committed to that ideal.

I will continue working hard until the new Congress is sworn in and I will do my part to ensure a smooth transition.

This isn't the end for me. I will continue to be a voice for hardworking Utah families and will seek ways to build coalitions and heal our country in whatever capacity I serve. Utah is my home, where my heart is, and where I'll continue to give back.

I also want to thank my friends and my family -- my wife Julie and my four kids -- whose love and support keep me going and whose accomplishments are my pride and joy.

Thank you.

-Ben McAdams
