SEPTEMBER 18, 2019: Fifty-one percent (51%) of voters nationwide who identify as Democrats consider themselves politically liberal. An analysis of ScottRasmussen.com surveys ([link removed]) found that 38% of Democrats are politically moderate and 11% are conservative.[1] ([link removed])
On the other side of the aisle, 73% of self-identified Republican voters consider themselves politically conservative. Twenty-one percent (21%) of the GOP base are moderate in their views and 7% liberal.
Most independent voters (66%) see themselves as politically moderate.
Overall, among all voters, 41% see themselves as moderate, 33% say conservative, and 26% say liberal.
During the month of August, ScottRasmussen.com interviewed 31,039 registered voters. This large sample allows for a more detailed analysis than typical surveys of approximately 1,000 voters each.
