Be with us - this week and beyond.

It's Our Time Now.

Dear John,

I’ve spent the last few election seasons holed up in cramped campaign offices during GOTV (Get Out the Vote – the big final push before election day) - surviving on goulash and cold pizza, joyfully in community, and loving every moment of it. This GOTV cycle was starkly different. I’m going to be honest; it made me sad.

To lift my spirits, I’ve been learning about progressive wins across the country. There’s a lot to celebrate. A record number of LGTBQ+ candidates and winners. The growing Squad. Abortion access wins in Colorado and New Mexico. These victories give me a sense of sturdiness. Reading these stories, I am clear, grounded, ready.

Reproductive rights hang precariously in our country. Access is chipped away at every moment. Activists and organizers constantly have to play defense. That's why I’m so damn grateful for the reproductive justice framework. It allows me to expand my imagining - and demanding - more for myself and my community.

It also stitches together a more robust picture of winning that includes electing unapologetic champions for reproductive rights, pushing legislation to move the needle on health and family care, and creating safer communities by defunding police. All of this happened this election season.

The steady, loving work of truthtellers and organizers before us has paved the way for reproductive justice wins - and there will be so many more as we continue building the world we deserve.

It's OUR time now. We're ready to move forward together, to build a public mandate for a more caring and just world. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: connection is political medicine.

Be with us this week and beyond:

  • Join us at 6 PM tonight (Wednesday, Nov. 18) at our Political Healing People’s Forum. This is a space to connect and reflect on the work we have to do after the elections. We'll be joined by Political Healers from TakeAction's women of color table to continue building a pathway from this world to the world we need to win. Register here.
  • Heal, Spill, and Chill: Join TakeAction and UnRestrict Minnesota this Friday at 6:30 PM. We’re excited for this evening of art, poetry, and healing as we “spill” stories of reproductive justice and its interconnection with the issues and events that have marked our lives this year. Register now.

In solidarity,

LyLy Vang-Yang
