Last year, the Trump administration announced it was considering a policy that would force people receiving their earned Social Security disability benefits to jump through new bureaucratic hoops every 6 months, or risk losing their benefits. We helped members of the public submit more than 130,000 comments in opposition to this policy, and the Trump administration appeared to drop their dangerous attack.

But now, after losing the election, Donald Trump is pushing to implement this policy BEFORE Joe Biden can take office―endangering millions of people who rely on Social Security!

We’re mobilizing to stop this plan―to make sure the Biden administration reverses the rule and fires Trump’s political appointees who are corrupting the Social Security Administration. Chip in $7 to save Social Security from Trump!

This policy was tried under the Reagan administration―and it was a disaster!

More than 200,000 people with disabilities lost their earned benefits in the 1980s because of this policy. It was such a disaster that it was reversed in just a few years―but not before 21,176 people died while waiting for their benefits to renew.¹

The Social Security Administration isn’t like other agencies. Trump’s appointees won’t automatically leave with him the way they do in other departments. If Joe Biden doesn’t take action, the architects of this dangerous policy will remain in power, undermining our earned benefits every step of the way.

Together, we’re sending the incoming Biden-Harris administration a message: Social Security is one system, and cuts to any part of it are cuts to the system as a whole.

Republicans have wanted to destroy Social Security for decades, and let their Wall Street donors gamble our money on the stock market. After they failed to privatize Social Security during the Bush Administration, they rededicated themselves to making it impossible for us to access our benefits through arcane rules and administrative cuts. Under Trump, they even stole Social Security’s dedicated funding during the pandemic!

Republicans have spent the past decade fighting to close Social Security offices, increase wait times for benefit applications, and put more bureaucracy between Americans and the benefits we’ve earned with every paycheck. The Biden-Harris administration can’t let Trump appointees remain in charge of our earned benefits!
