Dear Friend,
The election is over, a record number of voters made their voices heard, and in just two months, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be sworn in as the next president and vice president of the United States.
They’ll take office as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to tear a path across the country. People are out-of-work and struggling to cover the basics, all while waiting for a second stimulus that never came. Unemployment insurance is running out, eviction moratoriums are ending, leaving millions at risk of eviction during the winter, and every day we are seeing new record levels of positive COVID cases. And of those still working — the grocery store, warehouse, healthcare workers and more who were deemed “essential” — many lack basic health and safety protections, leaving them at increased risk of contracting COVID.
Working people are teetering on the brink and a long and dark winter is ahead.
Make no mistake, the challenges we face are daunting. But with this new administration, we have new opportunities to not only rebuild our economy and our democracy, but build them back in a way that finally puts working people first--Black, white, and brown alike. But to accomplish this, the new administration must hear our voices--the voices of working people
