John,
It's no secret that we're facing an urgent child care crisis in Washington and across the U.S. -- one that has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic as parents struggle to work remotely and care for their children full time.
To help alleviate this massive crisis, All in WA just launched their new Child Care Initiative. The All in WA Child Care Initiative provides vital resources to Washington families who need them most so they can access affordable child care -- all while sustaining child care providers throughout our state.
I'm proud to support initiatives like expanding the Child Tax Credit, which can ensure financial security for Washington families -- but such legislation takes time, and many families need help right now. That's why I'm so proud to stand with All in WA and support their new child care initiative. Now, I'm hoping you'll join me in supporting them, too.
Will you chip in $5 or any amount today to support the All in WA Child Care Initiative, and ensure all children get the care they need?
Even before the pandemic, the cost of child care put a tremendous strain on working families -- leaving over half a million children in Washington without access to licensed child care services.
The COVID-19 pandemic has worsened this crisis at every turn. Since March, up to 24% of Washington's licensed child care providers have closed their doors, forcing parents to juggle remote work with the demands of child care -- with no outside help to ease the burden.
As with many of our nation's problems, the challenge of finding affordable, high quality care has also fallen unequally on low-income and Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) families -- along with people living in rural and remote areas -- reinforcing preexisting social and economic inequalities as children are being denied fruitful educational -- and economic -- opportunities from the start of their lives.
Let's be clear: no child should be denied a high-quality education because of their parent's financial status.
Plus, investing in our children means investing in all of us. By providing children with the skills and resources they need to succeed, our communities and collective future will reap the benefits.
So John, will you take action to help solve this crisis, and protect our children's futures by contributing $5 to the Child Care Initiative right now?
Thank you for doing your part,
