The extreme “defund the police” movement sounds ridiculous and dangerous—because it is.
John,
The extreme “defund the police” movement sounds ridiculous and dangerous—because it is.
But across the nation, cities are trying to do just that.
In Austin, city officials defunded police to the tune of $150 MILLION. Now, Austin is experiencing the highest number of homicides in 20 years. And in Dallas, city council officials have recklessly voted to cut funding.
We will not allow this.
Governor Abbott has made clear that he will work with the Texas legislature to pass legislation that punishes any city that seeks to defund police, and countless Texans are showing their support for his efforts.
Over 130,000 Texans have already signed the Governor’s Back the Blue Pledge, and thousands more have ordered this one-of-a-kind bumper sticker showing their support for our police.
