Dear Team,
This week’s Speaking Frankly is about my upcoming time in Congress, my priorities, and the committees I'd like to join.
Throughout my time as North Township Trustee, I have been proud of my work to help working-class people obtain good-paying careers and find assistance to pay their rent, light, heat, and transportation needs, prevent child sexual abuse, help veterans have access to mental health services, and assist the elderly with their prescription drugs. My office was a trusted resource and I am ready to bring that same willingness to help and be of service to Congress.
That’s why I recently requested to serve on the House Appropriations Committee. I’ve seen the kind of hard work and diligence that my predecessor put into this committee to create good-paying jobs and improve the lives of individuals and working families in Northwest Indiana and across our country. I am ready to bring my experiences and passions to continuing the work that needs to be done to address the pandemic and the economic uncertainty in our country through the House Appropriations Committee.
I also think that growing our economy starts by creating more good-paying union jobs—because the foundation of a strong middle class is organized labor. And to make sure we have the most educated workforce in the world, we need to invest in our children’s education. And that is why I would also welcome working on the House Committee on Education and Labor.
Finally, I’ve made it clear that I would welcome the opportunity to serve on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee. My father is a retired veteran himself, which means these issues are personal for me. I look forward to continuing to be a trusted advocate for military veterans in Northwest Indiana and around the country.
I am ready to head to Congress and get to work on day one, and I look forward to keeping you posted on these initiatives. We must continue to work to bring our country together and fight for more good-paying jobs and educational opportunities for all.
Thank you,
Frank
